The Concertina Lives!
Oct. 26th, 2004 10:00 amRemember how, back in June, the thumb strap fell off my concertina? I called the music store, which advised me to fill in and then re-drill the screw holes. Well, a couple weeks ago I finally went to our little local hardware store to get a hand drill and some wood glue to complete this task. I brought the concertina with me, and I ended up getting into a long discussion with the store owner about what I was trying to do.
The end result was that we picked out some slightly larger screws, went to the table at the back of the store, and screwed the thumb strap back on (with the assistance of a little super-glue). Good as new!
I'm really grateful that we have this little hardware store just a couple of blocks from us, because no one at a chain store would have ever been able to stop and spend half an hour fixing a musical instrument.
Now, back to learning new songs....
