We had several tall ships in the harbor here in Baltimore for the 4th of July weekend. These were: The Bluenose II from Nova Scotia, the Capitan Miranda from Uruguay, the Cisne Branco from Brazil, the Cuauhtemoc from Mexico, the Mircea from Romania, snd the Sagres from Portugal. We were able to see the Cisne Branco and the Mircea up close, and the Cuauhtemoc from a distance. I forgot to bring my camera, but these are sites with pictures:
http://www.sailbaltimore.org/sailabration.htm This site has short descriptions of all the ships, with some pictures.

http://www.roembus.org/mil/bricul_mircea/brosura.htm This site has a history and lots and lots of pictures of the Mircea, including the inside of the ship. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a close-up picture of the figurehead, which looked really neat. If you go to the photos page, you can barely see it in the picture labeled "bric.JPG", if you enlarge the photo.

The Pride of Baltimore II was also in the harbor, and of course the USS Constellation is always there (and always worth another look).

A very pleasant Sunday afternoon, with nice rain to cool down the weather.

That sounds wonderful!
I wish I could be there to see it. And I've got a friend sailing in the Pride at the moment. You made me miss him all the more. Thanks for the URLs.
